Local News in Brief : Election Filing Deadline

January 28, 1988

Los Angeles County residents who plan to run for state Senate, Assembly or judicial offices in the June 7 primary election must file official forms declaring their intent as candidates between Feb. 1 and Feb. 10, Registrar-Recorder Charles Weissburd said.

Only candidates for state legislative and judicial offices are required to file the declarations at the registrar-recorder's City of Commerce office at 5557 Ferguson Drive.

Weissburd said the law requires that filing fees be paid or signatures in lieu of the fees be submitted when filing the declaration papers. The fees are based on 1% of the annual salary for the office.

In the event incumbents for state legislative office do not file declarations of intention for their individual districts, the filing period will be extended from Feb. 11 to Feb. 16 for candidates other than the incumbent.
