Anaheim Bicyclist Critically Injured After Collision With a Tow Truck

An Anaheim man remained in critical condition Saturday after being hit by a tow truck while riding a bicycle, authorities said.

Cristopher James Marco, 21, was hit by the truck as it turned left off Brookhurst Street and onto the Riverside Freeway about 8 p.m. Friday, Anaheim Police Sgt. David Severson said.

According to witnesses, the victim missed a red light and ran into the tow truck's path, Severson said.

Marco is being treated at the Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

The truck driver, Gary E. McDowell, 23, of Anaheim was not held or cited.
