First Off . . .

February 01, 1988|RICK SHERWOOD | Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Orange County businessman Harvey Stearn has been reelected to a second year as chairman of the California Arts Council, but vice chairwoman Joanne Kozberg lost out to Sacramento arts supporter Joyce Pollack in her bid for a second term. Both women work for Republican Sen. Pete Wilson's campaign office, Kozberg as a paid consultant. Kozberg also is vice chairwoman of the Music Center Board of Governors. According to Arts Council Director Robert Reid, Kozberg's unseating was "more a reflection of the desire to rotate" the residence of vice chairpersons from Southern to Northern California than a reflection on her work.
