Division in the Mideast

February 01, 1988

Thank God for Rabbi Schindler and his telegram to the Israeli government calling for the end of the indiscriminate beating of Palestinian Arabs because he says that it violates every principle of human decency, is an offense to the Jewish spirit, violates every principle of human decency and betrays the Zionist dream.

Israel's problems with the Palestinian will not end by beating young Arab men. The beatings will only bring on more violence and involvement of younger and younger children.

I am very sad to hear that there are many other Jewish leaders who agree with Rabbi Schindler's position but are afraid to speak out. Now is the time for action. Now is the time to save Israel from destruction. Now is the time for all Jewish leaders in Los Angeles to call for the end of the beatings and the recognition of the rights of the Palestinian Arabs in Israel's occupied areas.

I know that it is very painful, but justice and Israel's future demand it.
