A group of Westside Latino activists will launch a membership drive for a new chapter of the Mexican American Political Assn.
The meeting is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Market in Colorado Place, 2425 Colorado Ave. The group's activities and bylaws will be explained, said Antonio Vazquez, director of the Santa Monica-based Latino Resource Center.
Vazquez and about a dozen other people have been active in forming the new chapter to spur nonpartisan political activism among Westside Latinos. The chapter will be the first on the Westside.
Beatriz Molina, state president of the Mexican American Political Assn., and Gene Alonzo, a regional representative, are scheduled to attend, Vazquez said.
