BAGHDAD, Iraq — This Persian Gulf nation cut its foreign work force by 30% last year, saving more than $50 million in hard currency, Industry Minister Hatim Abd al Rashid said.

In remarks published Saturday in Al Qadisiya newspaper, Rashid said his ministry also saved Iraq $100 million in hard currency by switching from imported to local raw materials.
