At least five people have been killed and more than 100 injured in clashes between rival activists campaigning for this week's rural elections in Bangladesh, police said. Two people died over the weekend when a bomb they were making in the home of a rural candidate went off in Madaripur district in the north, police said. Earlier in the week, a man was knifed to death and two others were killed in a bomb explosion. "Bombings and murder are rampant in the run-up to the union council elections," a police officer said.
