BRIEFLY

February 09, 1988

The Burbank animation company DIC will not be going public through a merger with Computer Memories, a nearly liquidated computer parts maker in Chatsworth. The two companies would not comment on why they scuttled merger plans, although the decision comes less than three weeks after dissident Computer Memories shareholder Sun Equities disclosed that it planned to raise its stake to 25% to try to block the deal. Under the merger agreement, DIC would have received about $25 million in cash from Computer Memories for a one-third stake in the merged companies.
