When they signed with Warner Bros. Records four years ago, expatriate San Diego heavy metalists Rough Cutt were touted as the next Van Halen.

The group's expected rise to stardom never happened, however, and today, they're once again plying the Los Angeles nightclub circuit where they had started out.

Rough Cutt will return home Friday for a concert at Club Mirage in Mission Valley.
