A man whose car ran through a stop sign at a Sunland intersection and crashed into a motorcycle, killing its rider, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and hit-and-run driving, Los Angeles police said Wednesday.
Jeffery Allen Ulveling, 29, of Sunland, was killed shortly before midnight Tuesday in the accident at Hillrose Street and Langmuir Avenue, police said.
Ulveling was riding east on Hillrose when a car being driven north on Langmuir by James Dean Brown, 19, of Sunland, skidded into the intersection and struck him, police said. The driver of the car left the scene, police said.
Ulveling was fatally injured when he was thrown from his motorcycle, police said. He was taken to to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley in Sun Valley, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Brown left the scene of the accident but returned a short time later. He was arrested at the scene by Valley Traffic Division officers.
