A 44-year-old man was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of shooting his wife to death during an argument, police said.
Farouk Shamli was arrested shortly after 9 a.m. at his apartment at 1001 E. Stearns Ave., Police Lt. Terry Rammell said.
Aida Shamli, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound of the head, Rammell said.
Both police and paramedics were called to the scene by a resident of the apartment. Rammell said that it was not known who had placed the call but that another male family member was in the house at the time of the shooting.
He said the couple apparently had been arguing when the shooting occurred. Rammell said Shamli was being held in City Jail without bail.
