Chance to Diversify

February 14, 1988

Let us in the City of San Diego accept with grace the cuts in the Navy Department's budget that affect our city. It's not as though we won't still have many Navy installations here. Just think of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Miramar Naval Air Station, all those bases on Point Loma, and the new Navy Hospital in Balboa Park.

Let's say it gives us a chance to further diversify our economy so that we won't have to depend on war efforts to prosper.

It may even bring about a slight slowing of the growth that is such a problem to our city.
