Free Income Tax Assistance Programs For Senior Citizens, Others

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, sponsored by the Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service, and the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program (VTAP), sponsored by the state Franchise Tax Board, provide free tax help to older adults, disabled persons, low-income families and non-English-speaking individuals who cannot afford professional assistance. Most services are available now through early April, except as noted in the following list.

Most services are by appointment, except where noted.
