Misimpressionable

February 21, 1988

Thank God that there are conscientious L.A. Times readers like Eleanor Puls and Bill Turner who point out the terrors of young impressionable children being influenced by Calendar's picture of Joe Strummer inside a refrigerator (Calendar Letters, Feb. 7).

Why, just after my 5-year-old finished reading the Jan. 31 issue of Calendar, I found him sitting in the refrigerator smoking a pipe like Donald Freed and holding a gun like "Action Jackson."

When I scolded him, he flashed me the sign just like the man in the ad for "Dio at the Long Beach Arena."

Who knows, maybe next he'll stand in the middle of the highway like C. Thomas Howell or start smoking cigarettes like Eugene Ionesco.

Calendar, you should be ashamed!
