A 38-year-old man was arrested in Orange on Saturday and charged with attempted murder and rape after a woman to whom he had given a ride was attacked, police said.
Lt. Mannie Ortega said the woman, who was not identified, was found stabbed and bleeding in the 6400 block of East Chapman Avenue about 10:15 a.m. She told police she had accepted a ride from a restaurant with the suspect, William Addison of Orange, but he had then attacked her and left her on the street.
Ortega said Addison was arrested at his home near where the woman was found. The victim was treated and released from Chapman General Hospital, he said.
Addison, who is being investigated as a possible suspect in other similar attacks in the county, was booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of attempted murder and rape, Ortega said. Bail has not been set.
