A 25-year-old Los Angeles man was killed Saturday on the Golden State Freeway when his car struck another head-on north of Castaic, authorities said.
The dead man's name was not disclosed pending notification of relatives.
The dead man was driving north near Pyramid Lake at about 85 m.p.h., California Highway Patrol Officer J. A. Kaus said, when he crossed the freeway's median strip and struck a southbound car.
The driver of the southbound car, Fred Taylor, 64, of Inglewood, was in fair condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, a hospital spokeswoman said.
