HALLANDALE, Fla. — Jade Hunter led from the start to beat favored Cryptoclearance by a nose in the field of six running the $300,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap Sunday.

Ridden by Jerry Bailey, Jade Hunter was timed in 2:01 3/5 in the 1-mile race on a sloppy track, paying $7.40, $3 and $2,60.

Bruce McNall, owner of the Kings, is the co-owner of Jade Hunter. Allen Paulson recently purchased half-interest in the horse from McNall.

Cryptoclearance, the 6-5 favorite, paid $2.60 and $2.40 to place. Creme Fraiche was fourth lengths back and paid $3 to show.

Cryptoclearance almost drew even with 50 yards to go, but Jade Hunter still had his nose in front in the final stride.

Jade Hunter claimed a $180,000 purse, while Cryptoclearance collected $60,000.
