Jurors in the murder trial of former California Highway Patrol Officer Craig Peyer reviewed the testimony Monday of eight prosecution witnesses.

One witness testified that she saw Peyer stop a Volkswagen at the southbound Mercy Road off-ramp on the night of the killing, while another witness testified that he saw a CHP car stop a Volkswagen at the same off-ramp on the same night.

Peyer, 37, is charged with strangling Cara Knott, 20, at the Mercy Road off-ramp on Dec. 27, 1986, and throwing her body 65 feet into a dry creek bed. Knott's white Volkswagen was found parked three-tenths of a mile from where her body was found.

Two other witnesses whose testimony was reviewed Monday testified that they saw a patrol car leave the murder scene, while another two witnesses said that they saw Knott's car parked at the same spot where it was found by police the next morning.

On Monday, the jury, in its fourth day of deliberations, also reviewed the testimony of San Diego Police Officer Jill Ogilvie. Ogilvie testified that Peyer questioned her extensively about the police investigation of Knott's death four days after the killing. She said that Peyer exhibited more than a passing interest in the investigation.
