Scott Rudin has left his job as production chief for the motion picture division of 20th Century Fox Film Corp. and is to make a number of films independently for the company under a production agreement, the company announced.
Rudin, a holdover from the Marvin Davis ownership era at Fox, will not be replaced, according to President Leonard Goldberg, who expressed regret at "losing such a valuable member of our team."
Rudin joined Fox in July, 1984. Publisher Rupert Murdoch bought Fox from Davis in September, 1985. Rudin was promoted to production president in June, 1986. Rudin previously was a producer with Lawrence Gordon Productions, before Gordon served as president and chief operating officer of Fox's entertainment group.
Rudin said he appreciated Fox management for "affording me the chance to reassess my personal priorities and goals and to continue what has been a productive and satisfying working relationship."
