Italian financier Carlo De Benedetti and Belgium's economics minister called for a truce in the battle for control of Societe Generale de Belgique SA, the country's biggest holding company. De Benedetti claims to own 43% of Societe Generale's shares. "There have been enough maneuvers in the corridors, enough artificial coalitions, enough unrealistic share counts," De Benedetti said. Minister of Economy Philippe Maystadt, after meeting with De Benedetti, said it would be "desirable that all concerned parties without exception at last sit down around the same table."
