Kennedy's Son Has Spinal Growth Excised

BOSTON — Patrick Joseph Kennedy, the younger son of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), had surgery to remove a non-malignant growth pressing on his spinal cord and was in satisfactory condition today, a spokesman said.

Kennedy, 20, a sophomore at Providence College, was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday after complaining of headaches and back pains. The growth was removed Thursday.
