South El Monte : Agency Theft Arrest Sought

April 28, 1988

The Sheriff's Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of Delphina Custodio, a former bookkeeper at the Lincoln Training Center in South El Monte, in connection with the theft of at least $6,000 from the social service agency.

The warrant was issued this week following an eight-month investigation that began after the agency's executive director, Larry De Rush, disappeared last June, the Sheriff's Department said.

An audit of the agency's finances showed that De Rush was not involved in the loss of funds but that five fraudulent checks, totaling at least $6,000, were issued over a seven- to eight-month period. Custodio, 37, faces five counts of forgery and one count of grand theft, according to the department.

The Lincoln Training Center, established in 1964, provides counseling, job training and therapy to disabled adults.
