May 08, 1988

LONG BEACH — The Long Beach Area Coalition for the Homeless will hold Homeless Awareness Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 20 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Atlantic Avenue and 7th Street.

Featured speakers will be: Tanya Tull, co-founder and executive director of L.A. Family Housing, a nonprofit sponsor of housing for homeless families; Molly Lowry, executive director of LAMP, a program for homeless, mentally ill individuals; Gene Boutilier, executive director of Southern California Ecumenical Council, Emergency Service Issues, L.A. United Way; and Nancy Minti of the Homeless Litigation Team, L.A. Legal Aid.

Lunch will be available at a minimal cost. The free event is open to the public, with a dual purpose: to increase public awareness of the problems of the homeless and to provide networking opportunities for agencies and volunteers who work with and provide services to homeless individuals and families.
