In "An Ocean Apart," he crosses the Atlantic to host a seven-part series on PBS that charts the complex relationship between the United States and Britain over the last eight decades.

Says the host: "This is the story of two great countries, their friendship, their rivalry and their changing fortunes . . . as one rose, the other fell."

"An Ocean Apart" begins Monday at 8 p.m. on Channel 50 and 9 p.m. on Channels 28, 15 and 24. It was produced by BBC-TV in association with KCET/Los Angeles and WNET/New York.
