The thought that thousands of people may be walking the streets of California with loaded, unlicensed weapons in their possession, affords me no comfort whatever. One wonders how many of these "conscientious" people have had any training in the safe handling of guns. Even those who undergo stringent instruction in the proper use of firearms make mistakes with them. The kinds of mistakes they have to live with for the rest of their lives.
My husband is a 16-year veteran of a large police department in the county of Los Angeles. He has never had to fire his gun at a living creature. This increase in the number of concealed weapons being carried by a wide variety of people not only creates serious problems for his safety, but also for all of the rest of us as well.
