Whittier College graduating seniors Clare Macaulay and Tina Pai have been named co-recipients of the W. Roy Newsom Award in Chemistry. The award, begun in 1979 and named for the former chemistry professor who became the college's president, recognizes top chemistry majors for scholastic achievement, leadership and character. Macaulay, from La Habra Heights, plans to enter the Peace Corps after graduation. She has been accepted to the UCLA Dental School and intends to enroll there in the fall of 1989. Pai, from Honolulu, has been accepted to the medical schools at Johns Hopkins and Yale, but has yet to make a choice.
