MORNING REPORT

June 21, 1988| Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Why did Susan Sarandon go to such lengths to get the part of the lusty Annie Savoy in 'Bull Durham' opposite Kevin Costner? "How could you not want to do a part where you tie someone to a bed and read him Walt Whitman?" she told the Washington Times. Besides, she said, the love scenes "were not only hopefully hot in some way but . . . Kevin really calls (Annie) on who she is and she really knows who he is and I think that's the greatest aphrodisiac. Intelligence is sexy."
