We've heard this story before all too often before. In fact, it seems like every year we hear how it is time to get tough on drugs and how this or that program will cure the problem.
So we get tough, pass the new law and spend more money, and a few years later when the problem is supposed to have been cured, it is as bad as ever, and the politicians are back with another new program to get tough on drugs. Bonner is merely the latest version of a con game that has been going on for longer than either of us has been alive.
It is time we acknowledged this whole prohibition effort was foolish from the start, that we are wasting money and ruining lives for no benefit. We should legalize drugs.
