The Hammer Collection

June 26, 1988

Thank you for the funniest story I've read in a long, long time. That Armand Hammer versus the Los Angeles County Museum of Art fight was a riot. On one hand, an egocentric industrialist with all the art his money can buy; on the other hand, an institution so devoid of class and vision that it profoundly depresses anyone who is unfortunate enough to set foot in it. Greedy both, it pleases me no end to see them both lose big in this deal.
