There is one point that must be made about why young people are choosing careers in the private sector instead of the public sector. Since 1977, this country has been governed by Presidents elected on an anti-government, less-is-better platform. Both Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan have blamed the ills of our nation on government.
College students today are being told by their leaders that business is good and government is bad; that anyone who would rather earn less money in government serving the people instead of making big bucks in private industry is idiotic.
Sure, salary discrepancy is valid, but it is quite understandable why young people today frown upon government careers--Presidents attack the government that they aspire to be a part of.
