Hotel Discounts Offered

July 03, 1988|JACK ADLER

It's summertime, school is out and hotels are trying to drum up more family business.

TraveLodge is offering a summer "Vacation Break" promotion at more than 200 locations until Sept. 30. Rates are $29, $39 or $49, depending on the hotel and location.

Prices represent at least a 20% discount off regular rates, TraveLodge spokeswoman.

Participating hotels must offer at least 20% of their rooms at these rates. The rates are available every day, although some properties may have blackout periods. In addition, some West Coast hotels may impose a $10 surcharge per room.

Up to four members of a family can stay in the same room. Reservations are required, but this can be done only a day ahead. As with most promotions, rooms are capacity controlled.

Call TraveLodge at (800) 255-3050.

Sheraton has a "Summer Kids Free-For-All" program offering complimentary breakfasts for two children 12 and under staying with an adult at more than 220 hotels. The promotion runs until Sept. 18.

Children, who have to be accompanied by an adult, get a full breakfast from the children's menu at the hotel's restaurant.

In addition, two youths 17 or under can stay free in an adult's room.
