Slightly Off Target

July 03, 1988

Many thanks to Bernard J. Globus for shining the light of history on the oft-slandered Macbeth "Tracing Shakespeare's Macbeth in Scotland" (June 19). He did, however, succumb to one inaccurate element of the romanticized story in writing that Macbeth was buried at Lumphanan. Because he had been a legitimate High King of Scotland, his body was interred on the sacred isle of Iona (References: Ellis' Macbeth, Encyclopedia Britannica, et al.).
