NEW YORK — Coney Island's Cyclone roller coaster has become the city's newest landmark. The Cyclone, which was opened in 1927 and has 3,000 feet of wood track, received landmark status Tuesday by a unanimous vote of the city Landmarks Preservation Commission. It ensures that developers will need commission approval before altering or demolishing the ride.
