Larry L. Lucas, who was selected last week as superintendent of the ABC Unified School District, has been given a 4-year contract at an annual salary of $87,000.
Lucas' appointment to the 22,000-student district is effective Aug. 15. Lucas, 49, has been superintendent of the 20,000-student Chino Unified School District for the last three years. His salary there was about $84,000.
The board selected Lucas after an eight-month search to replace Kenneth L. Moffett. Moffett resigned in November after 15 months when he was rehired as superintendent of the Lennox Elementary School District, which he left to join ABC.
Lucas, a Southern California educator for 28 years, was chosen ahead of 65 other candidates.
Before going to Chino, Lucas was assistant superintendent of instruction in the Huntington Beach Union High School District.
