Controversy Over 'Temptation' Film

July 30, 1988

Of course Universal is right in stating, "In the United States no one sect or coalition has the power to set boundaries around each person's freedom to explore religious and philosophical questions whether through speech, books or film. These freedoms protect us all."

However, Universal Pictures misses the point!

Unless we all remember that no freedom is retained without an accompanying sense of responsibility, those freedoms will be lost. These freedoms protect us all it's true.

Even those among us who are irresponsible. These words used by Universal are the same words that pornographers and the promoters of 976 phone numbers hide behind. One would expect more of a major movie studio.
