Neighborhood Bully

July 31, 1988

Our San Diego City Council is at it again. I see where they are now threatening to throw the Sierra Club out of its office in Balboa Park for supporting the district elections initiative.

It figures. A City Council elected through the support of developers and the advantage of citywide elections could hardly be expected to be supportive of the Sierra Club. After all, its continued advocacy for the environment must be a constant thorn in the side.

But to play hardball by challenging the Sierra Club's right to lease its office in Balboa Park. . . .

Come on, City Council! Isn't that a little childish? You are acting just like a neighborhood bully. Perhaps it is time for district elections. San Diego certainly deserves better leadership than it is getting now.
