Dance

August 03, 1988|JOHN VOLAND | Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

From the "Together Again for the First Time" file: Prima ballerina Natalia Makarova is expected to dance with the Kirov Ballet in London this week--18 years after she defected from the company as it toured Britain. Makarova practiced with the company on Tuesday, and Kirov publicity director Tony Barlow said she would appear on stage if permission was received from Moscow. "Natalia is very keen to dance with them again and they are very keen to have her," Barlow said. Makarova, who gave artistic reasons for her defection, lives in New York but performs frequently in Britain.
