The United States team defeated Belgium, 3-0, Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the Britannia Cup of the International Tennis Federation Veteran Championships at Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach.
France, an unseeded team, pulled off its second consecutive upset with a 3-0 victory over Norway, the second-seeded team. Great Britain, the fourth-seeded team, defeated Sweden, 3-0, and third-seeded Australia defeated Italy, 3-0.
The United States plays Great Britain, and Australia plays France Thursday in the semifinal round, starting at 9 a.m. The Britannia Cup is for players age 65 or over. Teams from each country are represented by two singles players and a doubles team.
