Orange County Digest

August 25, 1988

A Tustin man was struck by a car and killed as he raced across Newport Avenue with a bag of food from a fast food restaurant Tuesday night.

Larry Clifford Price, 40, bought food from a Taco Bell restaurant at 14232 Newport Ave. shortly before 11 p.m. He attempted to cross the street and was struck by a southbound vehicle traveling about 35 m.p.h., the posted speed limit, according to Tustin Police Lt. Houston Williams.

Price "was not in the crosswalk," Williams said Wednesday. "He darted out in front of the southbound car," Williams said.

Price was pronounced dead on arrival at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. No charges were brought against the driver of the vehicle that struck him.
