A Placentia man died Wednesday of injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car while crossing a busy street more than a week ago.
Rafael Jose Perfecto, 30, was crossing Placentia Avenue just south of Sunset Drive about 11:20 p.m. on Aug. 16 when he was hit, Police Lt. Ken Rowley said.
Perfecto was jaywalking and "looking the opposite way" while crossing the street, Rowley said. The vehicle which struck Perfecto was traveling at the posted speed limit of 35 m.p.h., according to Rowley. The driver was not cited.
Perfecto was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange and never regained consciousness, a spokeswoman for the coroner's office said. He died at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
