At last, an article on your Orange County editorial page that suggests something besides developers and taxpayers are at the bottom of our transportation mess (Aug. 21).
Dana Reed's excellent article on the lack of leadership among those with elected or appointed "responsibility" was, for many, I'm sure, a breath of fresh air.
Last year, the Lincoln Club of Orange County held a special forum on transportation in which the entire delegation of our county's state representatives were asked pointed questions on how they intended to resolve gridlock.
There was agreement that more funds were required. However, as Assemblyman Gil Ferguson insisted, right now there appears to be no way to fix responsibility and accountability--apparently no one has clear authority or responsibility. This situation needs resolution.
Let's encourage Gil Ferguson, Commissioner Dana Reed and our supervisors, who are pushing to change this over the resistance of the few local officials whose only interest is their little fiefdom.
