Credit Where Due

September 10, 1988

In three separate articles on the feature film "Break of Dawn" (Aug. 26), Times writers mention the documentary on which the movie is based, "Ballad of an Unsung Hero." Each time, the program is referred to as a PBS documentary made by the principals of Cinewest.

For the record, "Ballad of an Unsung Hero" is a KPBS production. It was produced by KPBS' Paul Espinosa, directed and edited by Cinewest's Isaac Artenstein and written by Espinosa and anthropologist Lorena Parlee, who first uncovered the marvelous story of Pedro J. Gonzalez.
