Television's Treatment of the Olympics: Race for the Gold

September 25, 1988

Often two important events are simultaneously "covered" by a split-screen presentation, viz: basketball vs. diving, in which the audio can pertain only to one of the events; this rather than taping one for broadcast later.

To further compound the felony, when NBC isn't broadcasting paid messages it gives considerable time to its own ads.

I'm for cable coverage next time.
