Beverly Hills : Building Reviews Continue

October 13, 1988

The City Council on Tuesday extended for 10 months and 15 days an interim control ordinance requiring city reviews of new buildings in the industrial zone, which has been targeted for extensive development.

The ordinance, which was passed Sept. 13, requires developers to obtain conditional-use permits from the city Planning Commission before beginning construction. Planners will check projects to ensure that they meet stricter density and traffic standards while city officials work on permanent development standards for the area, bounded by Civic Center Drive, Burton Way and Maple Drive.

Up to 50% of the area could be redeveloped in the next five years, said Mark Scott, the city's director of environmental services.
