MORNING REPORT

October 25, 1988|JOHN VOLAND | Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Geraldo Rivera and NBC are buddies again. The reporter and the network resolved their differences over Rivera's special on devil worship--scheduled for broadcast tonight at 8 (on Channels 4, 36 and 39)--without on-air "black" segments. The network had demanded cuts in the material used on "Devil Worship: Exposing Satan's Underground" and Rivera balked, threatening to leave the censored segments black instead of filling them with substitute material. A spokeswoman for Rivera said marathon negotiations over the weekend were resolved "at the highest level," but added, "the most incendiary scenes have been excised."
