Venice : Tree-Planting Program

November 17, 1988

A tree-planting program called the "Greening of Venice" is taking root.

Members of the Venice Action Committee are planning to plant trees along the major streets of Venice as part of a long-term effort to make the beach community more beautiful.

For a $400 donation, the committee will plant a tree and dedicate it with a plaque naming the donor or designated person.

As a start, 131 Australian willows are being set out this week along Rose Avenue from Ocean Front Walk to Lincoln Boulevard.

The program will get an official send-off Monday night at a party at a soon-to-open Santa Monica restaurant, the DC-3. Tickets are $175 and available from the Venice Action Committee.

For more information, call (213) 399-7200.
