Running back Deon Thomas, offensive lineman Eduardo Vega, linebacker Larry Kizzee and defensive back Greg Griffin, all of Santa Monica College, are unanimous selections on the All-Western State Conference football team chosen by conference coaches.

Other SMC first-team choices are quarterback Daryl Hobbs, kick returner Vincent McGowens (also a second-team wide receiver), lineman Calvin Silvera, linebacker Eric Dozier and defensive back Naim Shah.

Corsairs on the second team are center Shane Cox , wide receiver Antoine Holland, fullback William Harris, defensive linemen Ron Walker and Robert Taylor and defensive backs Kenneth McKyer and Haamid Wadood.

SMC players who received honorable mention are offensive linemen David Collins and David Gardner, tight end Fabian Pope, defensive lineman Eric Ahola and linebackers Latrelle Barnes and Tremain Robinson.

Dick Schaefer shot a 34 for nine holes to win the A flight in the Penmar Men's Golf Club's November tournament. Other flight winners and gross scores: Al Fountaine, B, 36; Henry Pfefferkorn, C, 39; Herb Cohn, D, 38, and Carlos Aguirre, temporary handicaps, 46.
