Lucky Luciano (TMC Tuesday at 2 p.m.): Francesco Rosi's engrossing 1973 English-language production, with the Italian director's characteristic convoluted structuring, expansive scope and easy elegance of style--and with Gian Maria Volonte in the title role. (2:00)

The Spider's Stratagem (Z Friday at 9:30 a.m.): In this stunning, ambitious 1970 adaptation of a Jorge Luis Borges story, Bernardo Bertolucci tells of a man (Giulio Brogi) caught up in a tantalizing quest for the truth about the death of his father, an anti-fascist martyr. (2:00)

Before the Revolution (Z Saturday at 3 p.m.): Bertolucci took his inspiration from Stendhal's "The Charterhouse of Parma" for his rich and astonishing 1964 film about youth and politics. (2:00)
