Fourteen candidates met Tuesday's filing deadline for Glendale City Council elections, and they will be on the ballot on April 4.
The field of candidates running for three seats on the five-member council includes two incumbents--Mayor Carl W. Raggio and Councilwoman Ginger Bremberg.
Councilman John F. Day will not seek a fourth term on the council. His announced retirement opened the gates for the largest field of candidates in at least three decades.
Also running are Robin Westmiller, the owner of a speakers bureau; attorney Shirley Yap Griffin; architect Richard Diradourian; laboratory technician Gary L. Siglar; attorney Nida Solana Brown; real estate broker S. Joe Ayvazi; Richard N. (Dick) Williams, a Carnation Co. vice president; retired sheriff's deputy P. E. (Ed) Dorris; Richard Navarro, a Glendale police officer; Richard Seeley, a gardener and landscaper; public relations executive Berdj P. Karapetian; and publisher Richard Jutras.
To run for the council, each candidate was required to submit 500 signatures of supporters registered as Glendale voters, and pay $400 in fees.
