Terry Scruggs scored 25 points to lead Southern California College to a 91-88 overtime victory over California Lutheran at SCC Saturday night to remain unbeaten in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

"When we got up early, (we) thought it was another ho, hum victory," SCC Coach Bill Reynolds said. "But (de Laveaga) was doing anything he wanted. He could have had triple digits tonight."

SCC maintained a 13-point lead for most of the of the second half before David Rowlands hit a three-point basket and de Laveaga followed with two more points. Cal Lutheran's de Laveaga scored 19 points in the final six minutes to bring the Kingsmen within a basket, 78-76.

"In those last minutes we didn't create any offense or defense," Reynolds said. "Everybody just stood there."

With the score tied with two seconds left in regulation, SCC's Todd Dixon went inside for a layup, which was blocked by de Laveaga, sending the game into overtime.

SCC opened a quick lead in the overtime period and finally put the game away with two free throws from Kyle Lundy.
